Equator receives two Pro Packaging Notables at the Core 77 Awards
23/07/12

Last week, we were very pleased to learn that Equator Design had received not one, but two Professional Packaging Notables at the inaugural Core 77 Awards.
Our first came for our packaging re-brand of Cretors Popcorn and our second came for the re-brand of Hi I'm SKINNY, both designed by Equator Chicago for G. H. Cretors. A big well done to all of those involved. The winning designs can be seen below and the other winners at the Core 77 Awards can be seen by clicking here.
"Equator's enthusiasm for our project was contagious and their creativity inspiring. They managed to take our 125 year old family story and transform it into a relevant brand, capturing our consumer at first glance." - Phyllis Cretors, President/CEO.
"Our second project with Equator and it was just as successful as the the first!" - Phyllis Cretors, President/CEO

Pentawards pending...
11/05/12
Today we have entered some of our most recent work into this year's Pentawards. The Pentawards are the first and only worldwide competition exclusively devoted to packaging design in all its forms. We hope we can achieve some of the same success as we did last year as we won Gold for our Vero Coffee and Gelato packaging in the US. What's more exciting this year is that the awards also have a category that acknowledges packaging concepts that are not yet in the market. This will give a great insight into what's to come from the industry this year and the next.
You can see our award winner from last year here. Wish us luck!

27/02/12

We are pleased to announce we have been named a 2012 Top U.S. Business by DiversityBusiness.com. We are very proud to be included in this esteemed and elite list, as the honor is coveted by some of the most successful companies in the U.S.
Equator was among a select group of businesses to receive awards from DiversityBusiness, based on our business profile and annual gross revenue. We received awards in the following categories:
• Top 500 Women-Owned Businesses in the U.S. (No. 203)
• Top 100 Diversity-Owned Businesses in Illinois (No. 41)
• Top 100 Women-Owned Businesses in Illinois (No. 31)
• Top 100 Privately-Held Businesses in Illinois (No. 87)
As an award winner, Equator will receive recognition during the 12th Annual National Business Awards Ceremony, held this April in Mashantucket, CT. We will also be listed on the annual “Top Business List” viewed by more than 20 million annually. Featured sponsors include Apple, Coca-Cola, United, Hilton and Wal-Mart to name a few.

Salute to Excellence Awards
08/11/11
The Private Label Manufacturers Association announced that nearly two-dozen retail chains and wholesalers from across the country were selected as the winners of this year’s Salute to Excellence Awards. The awards give recognition for new Private Brand products that exemplify the high quality, innovation and value to consumers that continue to drive private label sales and market shares to record highs.
Entries are submitted by retailers themselves, not by design agencies, but we are still really excited that two of the products we've designed for ALDI US have won awards.

Pentawards
19/10/11

As promised in a previous post, here are a few more details of our recent Gold award at the Pentawards. Sue, Duffy and Katy travelled to New York to receive the award, at a sold out ceremony held in the Marquis Ballroom at the Marriott Hotel. In total 25 countries were represented at the awards, a truly global event. After opening speeches from Jack Vogler (who worked alongside Walter Landor), Stan Church (of Wallace Church New York) and Gérard Caron, President of the Pentawards jury, the winners were invited up on stage to collect their trophies.
Everybody then retired to the upper terrace of the Marquis for a buffet and champagne, overlooking the lights of Times Square.
Sue said of the award, “I’m immensely proud of the team and to be in such illustrious company, winning Gold against some of the biggest names in the industry.”
You can read more about our winning design and the story behind it here.
We've struck Gold...
30/09/11

As mentioned in a previous post, we have been waiting to hear whether we'd won a prestigious design award after learning earlier in the year we'd been nominated. So you can only begin to imagine our excitement at learning we have won Gold for our Vero packaging in the recent Pentawards.
More details to follow soon, but in the meantime you can view the news on the official site here and as featured on the My[Private]Brand website.
Another possible award...
04/08/11
Following on from the success of our nomination for the Blades 2011 Awards, Equator US are celebrating success of their own with one of their projects being nominated for a major award. We are all hopeful of a positive result come the Awards Ceremony, but whatever the result, we are certainly honored to have even been considered.
Blades awards 2011
21/06/11

We are delighted to announce that our Borsari Panettone work for Winterbotham Darby and Waitrose has been shortlisted in the Packaging Category in the Design stream of this year's Blades 2011 awards. Whatever the outcome in September, we are proud to be nominated and shortlisted. The Blades awards are fairly unique in that the criteria for success is based on client feedback, so our shortlisting is a testament to our strong relationship with Winterbotham Darby and the excellent work that Sue, Anna, Tamara and the design team have put in to managing the account and the client expectations.
Details of the awards can be found here
