Get creative with iPhone cases

BaconA good number of the general population has an iPhone®. So one might ask, “How can I make my phone standout?” “How can I express my personality with the one gadget I carry with me everywhere?

The answer is the iPhone case. From the somewhat silly (Bacon, anyone?), to the absurdly expensive (check out the “Golden Delicious” below for $108,981) and the outright freaky (available soon from www.perpetualkid.com), there is no lack of options.

Instagram – a world of photography at your fingertips

I've been hooked on Instagram for about eight months now, and haven't tired of it yet. Which probably makes it the best app I've ever bought, or should I say downloaded, seeing as it's free! What is Instagram? I usually describe it as Twitter for photographers, but thinking about that now does it a great injustice, (sorry Twitter). Describing it as Twitter for photographers may make you think that you'll just be seeing snaps of what your friends are doing, funny pictures from comedians or lolcats. But that's not what it's about, it's so much more than that. For me anyway.

If you have even a little creativity in your bones, you must have taken the odd photo that your friends and family consider to be 'arty', in which case those shots would usually end up discarded and unappreciated. Well, Instagram gives you somewhere to showcase your talent for cropping the corner of that building just so, or sharing an eye-catching, paint peeled texture with the world, as well as somewhere you can take inspiration, insight and imagination from others.

But I'm not trying to sell you an iPhone app. What I want to do is show off some of the talent I've found on there, from working photographers and artists to amateur iPhonographers and casual users, all with an eye for a good shot that covers a vast array of styles and techniques.

Firstly is @intao whose work has a haunting, dreamlike quality.

Next is @nonturn who finds wonderfully abstract textures in everyday objects.

@rainbowgirl focusses on the minimal in size and style.

@saturninofarandola produces some beautifully detailed black & white portraits.

@co2_iskw helps to put a few things into perspective with sombre documentary photography of the aftermath of the tsunami disaster in Japan.

@aikbengchia usually includes a backstory to his insightful street photography

And finally @rousbib who creates futuristic dreamscapes with his trademark symmetry photography.

These are just a few of the thousands of iPhonographers using Instagram. Some of them work in collaboration with others and occasionally exhibit their work, which in the majority of cases is shot and edited on the iPhone.

So, If you find you have a spare minute with your iPhone, why not try out Instagram and take a step into the most creative social media app there is.
