What is your role at Equator and how long have you been here?
I am an Account Director at Equator and I have been with Equator for four and a half years.
What 5 qualities do you need for this role?
There is actually 6 - communication, passion, confidence, accountability, resourcefulness and last but not least, creativity!
What is the first thing you do once you get to your desk?
I don’t really have a set morning routine. Each day is different from the last, but I always grab a coffee and chat with the team. If I have the time, I will catch up on some retail market news and check out what else is going on in the world.
What is your favorite Cincinnati hang out?
My favorite Cincinnati hangout is a secret and I would like to keep it that way! But my second favorite is Alt Park in Hyde Park; it’s a massive park with great views of nearby neighborhoods, as well as a great spot to walk through the woods or just sit back and relax in the gardens.
Who or what inspires a sense of adventure in you?
Moving to a new city always inspires a little adventure! I love walking around new neighborhoods and discovering shops, restaurants and anything else they have to offer! I think it is important to keep yourself open to new opportunities and embrace your surroundings wherever you are.
Most enjoyable part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is seeing live products on the shelf. Watching the design concepts come to life and develop throughout the process is always a case of mixed emotions but once the product is on shelf it is always exciting to see the final outcome. I love watching the entire process come together and I’m lucky enough to work with some of the most talented people that I have ever worked with.
Best project you have worked on?
It’s hard to pick a favorite because I have worked on many projects in the last 4.5 years and each project has been rewarding in its own way - you always learn something new or have a new challenge to overcome! My first large project for Equator was a cereal range that involved photography and illustration and it was the first project I managed from beginning to end. It was amazing to see the project come to life from sketches to the final live product on shelf.
What can’t you get through the day without?
Coffee. I LOVE coffee… probably too much!
What is your passion in life?
Enjoying life, day by day. Finding inspiration in the things around me and embracing new challenges. I like to accept challenges wherever they come from whether it be golfing, traveling on vacation, going for a long run, or something as simple as starting a new book.
Favorite Instagram account and why?
@designspiration - They share amazing videos of artists creating and I am always blown away by the talent they feature. The freehand calligraphy videos are my favorite.
What is your most visited lunch hotspot?
When I’m at work, it has to be Pontiac which is across the street from the office. It has pretty good BBQ (which is not a Chicago staple) and I love the Brisket Gyro. When I’m at home, my favorite spot is probably Arthur’s which has great burgers and a great outdoor patio in the warmer weather. I am still on the hunt for a favorite local pizza joint!
Last photograph you took on your smartphone.
This is a photograph I took at the weekend as I was walking through the woods at Alt Park. The creek looked so peaceful so I just had to take a picture.
