The Full Circle of Creativity at Equator Design

Ever wondered what happens between the moment a client walks through our doors with a gleam in their eye and the moment a beautifully designed product appears in store? We thought it was about time we pulled back the curtain and revealed how the magic really happens at Equator (like the Wizard of Oz, but less anticlimactic).

So, welcome to ‘The Full Circle of Creativity’ – our new blog series where we’ll be taking you on a journey through the inner workings of Equator. No smoke and mirrors, just real talk about how great design actually happens when talented people from different teams work together to bring a creative concept to life.

Under one roof (it’s more than just sharing a coffee machine)

At Equator, we’re proud of our under-one-roof model. But what does that actually mean? Put simply, it means we’ve built an end-to-end ecosystem where your project never needs to leave our team’s talented hands. With offices spanning the UK, US and Canada, our ‘roof’ might stretch across the Atlantic, but our integrated approach and unified culture means that whether we’re collaborating from Manchester or West Michigan, the quality and consistency never waver.

There’s no pressure to fragment your project across multiple disconnected partners because we oversee the creative process from start to finish. We have the full breadth of talent here: account managers, brand strategists, food stylists, designers, illustrators, photographers – you name it! As we like to say: “None of us are as smart as all of us”. Having a collective mindset of diverse thinkers all working together creates something special – a seamless journey from strategy to shelf without compromise. And that’s not just marketing speak. It’s how we operate every day.

The power of passing the baton

Great creative work isn’t born in isolation. The handover between teams is where many agencies drop the ball (or the brief). At Equator, we see these transitions as opportunities for collaboration and enhancement. When our strategists pass insights to the creative team, or when our photography team delivers assets to retouching, there’s no interruption to the flow or vision. Instead, these moments strengthen the end result.

Exploring the journey

Over the coming months, we’ll take you through the complete creative journey, shining a spotlight on the teams that make up our full circle. One month you’ll find yourself immersed in the world of strategy & insights, discovering how consumer trends and market analysis shape the foundation of compelling creative work. The next, you could be stepping inside our photography studio, witnessing how our photographers and art directors collaborate to capture that perfect shot that brings a concept to life.

We’ll explore how each department contributes its unique expertise while maintaining a seamless connection to the whole. Each instalment will feature the real people behind the work and their perspectives on what makes collaboration at Equator so special. We hope you find it valuable and enlightening. As our Executive Creative & Strategic Director, Howard Wright, said: “This series is our chance to show how our integrated approach allows us to be agile, efficient and creative. We’re excited to demonstrate that having everything under one roof means we can take a client’s vision and carry it through to completion without compromise.”

Join us on the journey

Whether you’re a current client, a potential partner, or just someone interested in creative processes, we invite you to follow along as we chronicle the full circle of creativity at Equator. Next month, we’ll kick things off with a deep dive into the world of Client Service, where communication is key to getting a client’s brief right first time.

At Equator, we believe that great design isn’t just about what you create – it’s about how you create it. And we can’t wait to show you how it’s done!

Cracking the Design Language of Trust

Consumers today have their guard up – and who can blame them? Between the misleading practice of corporate greenwashing, the proliferation of performative social media influencers, and the surge of ‘AI-made everything’, there’s a lot to be cynical about! In response, they have become selective, seeking out brands that feel trustworthy and making purchasing decisions […]

When Brands Had Edges: What the 90s Can Teach 2026

Michael Duffy, SVP, Global Creative Director & Business Development Something interesting is happening. A generation that grew up entirely in the digital age is reaching back thirty years for inspiration – shooting on Polaroid cameras, applying VHS filters to smartphone footage, embracing the deliberately imperfect and the stubbornly handmade. The #90s hashtag on TikTok has […]

Ambiguity is the most expensive line on any brand programme

“The risk we rarely measure isn’t capability or budget. It’s the structural cost of unclear decision-making, and in my experience, it’s been hiding in plain sight.”   Adam Sears, VP Client Service I’ve been working in client services long enough to recognise a pattern before a project gives it a name. The brief arrives energised. […]
