Senior Designer - packaging

We’re looking for a senior packaging designer to lead the design process and bring our clients’ product vision to life, creating layouts and illustrations for a wide range of food packaging products. ACHIEVE

What is the role designed to do for the organization?

 

  • Lead designer from concept through to completion, showing understanding strategic direction
  • Delivery of strong conceptual thinking that delivers exciting designs
  • Approaches projects with a strategic focus working with the Strategy Directors
  • Build and deliver Equator presentations
  • Identifying and reporting ongoing trends in food and drink, retail, design & packaging
  • Work closely with the Account Team to deliver on projects and present into clients
  • Leads the creation of case studies, awards and content for internal comms and social media
  • Interaction with the photo studio, Art Directing own photoshoots
  • Proactively engage with wider creative teams across sites to understand ongoing projects
  • Mentor junior colleagues
  • Collaborate with the team onsite at our Mississauga office two days a week

DELIVER

What is the role required to deliver to the organization?

 

  • Strong, unique creative design concepts across multiple ranges
  • Fully understands and champions the Equator process. Supports junior team members
  • Clean and accurate file builds with an understanding of print process, font and colour usage
  • Engaging ideas that deliver and challenge the brief
  • Working as part of the senior creative team to deliver for clients
  • Resource to the client service team as project or range guardian
  • Insights and reports into trends and developments
  • Proactive & friendly studio support to both junior designers and other departments

EXPERIENCE

We’re looking for someone who:

 

  • Academic Background: Must possess a degree (or international equivalent) in graphic design, fine arts or packaging design.
  • Has five (5) years of experience in food and beverage packaging graphic design.
  • Has experience of developing graphic design strategies, including analyzing, researching and creating/developing visual solutions.
  • Knowledge of flexography, lithography, rotogravure, dry offset, and computer programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) - gained from university/college-level learning or hands-on experience.
  • Share a portfolio with a minimum of 5 examples of different food or beverage packaging design projects to showcase your skills and experience.
  • Can occasionally travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally for client projects.
  • The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $90,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future. Pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
